The aromas remind us where it comes from: warm rocks and graphite, sagebrush, tar, and wood spice join dark fruits, charred red pepper, and violets. The dense palate is full and powerful with an assertive tannic structure. It somehow manages to maintain its freshness, however, and there’s precise, layered flavors of cedar, roasted meat, salted chocolate, and dried nori. 94-96 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Bright ruby-red. The deepest-pitched of these Syrahs, showing aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, pepperoni and black olive tapenade lifted by violet. Dense, fine-grained and suave; at once rich and urgent, with scintillating blackberry, boysenberry and pepper flavors of outstanding intensity. Really vibrates on the middle palate and on the long, rising aftertaste. Tannins are firm and serious but utterly fine-grained and suave. For such a dense wine, this Syrah stands out most for its overall impression of weightlessness. (70% whole clusters) 95 points -- Stephen Tanzer
