The 2017 Dolce Mio Figlio is full of character, with a richly colored, deep ruby hue. The aromas are expressive: brandied cherries, dried apricots, dark chocolate, hoisin, and orange peel waft out immediately with air. The density and complexity continue through the rich, full-bodied palate, adding black plums, and mission figs.

...Densely packed, silky and utterly suave, with dark raspberry and subtle game flavors lifted by captivating black olive, licorice, pepper and herb notes. This wonderfully fine-grained, bright, smooth wine delivers terrific density and umami silkiness without any heaviness; in fact, it's downright light on its feet owing to its inner-mouth aromatic lift. Perhaps most impressive today on the very subtle, building, floral aftertaste, where a fine dusting of tannins coats the entire palate. A lovely expression of Syrah and a sentimental favorite in my Washington tastings this year. With its notes of red fruits, bacon fat and spices, this reminded me of Côte-Rôtie. (100% whole-cluster fermentation).  94 Points -- Stephen Tanzer

93-95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

The aromas remind us where it comes from: warm rocks and graphite, sagebrush, tar, and wood spice join dark fruits, charred red pepper, and violets.  The dense palate is full and powerful with an assertive tannic structure. It somehow manages to maintain its freshness, however, and there’s precise, layered flavors of cedar, roasted meat, salted chocolate, and dried nori. 94-96 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

Bright ruby-red. The deepest-pitched of these Syrahs, showing aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, pepperoni and black olive tapenade lifted by violet. Dense, fine-grained and suave; at once rich and urgent, with scintillating blackberry, boysenberry and pepper flavors of outstanding intensity. Really vibrates on the middle palate and on the long, rising aftertaste. Tannins are firm and serious but utterly fine-grained and suave. For such a dense wine, this Syrah stands out most for its overall impression of weightlessness. (70% whole clusters) 95 points -- Stephen Tanzer

A delicate yellow color with a hint of green suggests a vintage with good ripeness but good freshness. Fresh pineapple, yellow peach, litchi and a hint of gunsmoke greet the nose. Ripe orchard fruits are revealed on a medium-bodied palate that has lovely linearity and tension. The wine is poised and balanced, with a great combination of ripeness and mineral tension.

The 2018 Bésoleil shows what it’s made of from the moment it hits the glass, displaying a brilliant, bright ruby color.  The aromas are intense and complex: strawberry preserves, orange zest, and raspberry, tellicherry pepper, fresh rose petals, and herbs de Provence.  The texture is silky and the palate expansive, adding layers of fresh spice and cedar.

91 Points - Steven Tazer

The 2018 La Serenne shines from the moment it’s poured with dark, glass-coating, black-purple color.  The aromatics show the characteristic Boushey “wildness”: smoked meat, lavender, fennel, white pepper, and tarragon swirl along with inky blueberry, marionberry, and cacao nibs.  The palate is rich and vibrant adding cracked espresso bean, clove, and dusty mineral tone.  The polished tannic backbone indicates long cellar life, at least 15-20 years…if you can manage to resist it now.

92-94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

The aromas are intense and exotic; black and red raspberries, apricot and passion fruit nimbly dance with graphite, sandalwood, chamomile, and rose petal.  The palate brings intense graphite and dark chocolate with boysenberry and sesame fleshing things out. The finish is lengthy with broad mineral tones and surprising delicacy.

93-95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
